When can we try again after a miscarriage?
Following a miscarriage, couples can try to conceive again based on their own terms. However, sexual intercourse is not advised until:
- miscarriage symptoms have ceased.
This decreases the likelihood of infection and further complications.
- you have had your first menstrual cycle after a miscarriage. This makes it easier to identify the time of conception if you do conceive, and avoid unnecessary anxiety.
However, women may ovulate before their first menstrual period post-miscarriage and fall pregnant immediately. Rest assured; therisk of miscarriage is not heightened if you conceive before your first period.
